BRING BACK THE A-TEAM!

In the classic TV series (for those of you old enough to remember), the A-Team always showed up when someone was in trouble- no fuss, no ego, just a group of people using their skills to help those who needed it most.
Fast-forward to today’s business world, and it feels like we’ve lost that sense of camaraderie. Instead of pulling together, too often we see that ugly “dog eat dog” mentality: fake reviews planted to damage competitors, social media slating instead of direct conversations with business owners, and start-ups throwing cash at leads that offer no guarantee of work. Add in the extra hurdles faced by minority groups trying to find work or start out on their own, and you’re left asking: haven’t we learned anything in the last 30 years? If anything, the divide between thriving businesses and those just surviving seems wider than ever.
That’s why we’re calling for the return of the A-Team… only this time the “A” stands for Accessibility, Affordability, and Accountability (and yes, we’re missing a helicopter- although never say never)!
Together, the Safety Net Foundation and Just Starting Out are pushing for a business culture where support isn’t boxed, cost isn’t a barrier, and business owners are fully equipped to take responsibility. The Safety Net Foundation are tackling accessibility head-on, creating opportunities for people who may otherwise feel locked out, while Just Starting Out are making sure that affordability doesn’t stand in the way of growth.
And then comes accountability which both companies are promoting within their frameworks. Businesses that are open to feedback, quick to own up to mistakes, and willing to apologise can turn setbacks into trust-builders. In fact, market research shows that 94% of consumers said they wouldn’t mind a mistake so much if the professional was quick to admit it and apologise (Just Starting Out Market Research Data April 2025). Accountability doesn’t weaken a business, it actually strengthens it, because honesty creates loyalty.
So, if we can bring those three A’s back into the foreground of business, perhaps we can finally replace rivalry with real relationships, and swap the backstabbing for backing each other.
